I get asked this question quite a bit. I decided about seven years ago, at the age of 46, to sell my insurance business and stay home to work with my husband at his home office and his financial planning business. I now work from home part time for him and do his marketing, advertising, and computer work. So I tease, and when people ask what I do, I tell them I'm just Bob's trophy wife! Yea, right!!
It has always been a dream of mine to be able to stay home. I had a stay at home mother and she always encouraged me to work, have a career, and be able to support myself. So I did. But deep down I envied those mothers and women that were able to stay home. I loved my career for many years, but I always wanted to be like June Cleaver. I love homemaking, decorating, cooking, and just making a house a home. I guess I've been very fortunate in being able to have both lifestyles. I'm now a SAHW (Stay At Home Wife) and a SAHG (Stay At Home Grandma), and I love my life. I'm busier than ever. That's the part people don't understand. Just because you don't work outside the home doesn't mean that you're not productive and contributing. I know Hubby wouldn't be as good at what he does if I didn't do all that I do. I could go on and on about this point, but I won't right now.
This is what I do.
My little office space in my kitchen, where I work my job for my Hubby two to three days a week. And see the hand weights sitting there? I'll do arm curls while I'm sitting and waiting for a download or something to print. I'm the queen of multi-tasking!
Then there's the laundry
And the ironing. Yes, I iron. I still wash and iron all Hubby's work shirts, and I even iron my sheets.
Clean the toilets. I have four of them.
Once a week I clip and print coupons and go through the store's specials and make up my grocery list. I cook dinner usually five or six nights a week. We try to eat fairly light and healthy, so we don't like to go out to eat too much. Every Wednesday I keep open for all my errands. I really hate to have to leave the house any other weekday or I just can't get everything done.
Then there are my babies that go to the door every few hours and need to go out! Little Fergie doesn't always wait for me to let him out, if you know what I mean! He's such a little stinker!
This past couple of weeks we've also been remodeling our powder room. I showed you the progress up to last week here.
Here's an update:
I got the towel ring and toilet paper holder up. They are oil rubbed bronze and will go well with the decor. and sink and faucet that aren't in yet.
I just hung the new valance this morning. It goes perfect with the paint and art work.
I found this crackled copper vase and filled it with thiss smell good stuff that I can't think of the name of right now (senior moment). I love the smell and the colors were perfect.
I haven't even mentioned my hobbies that I keep busy with in the evenings and in my spare time. I'm going to have to designate a separate post to show you what I've been up to with my knitting and quilting. I've been pretty busy lately in this area. I have a lot of new creations to show. There's also my blogging and Etsy hobby.
Then, of course, there's a lot of time spent with my family including my parents, my son and his family that live nearby and my precious grandchildren.
So there. I'm busy with almost every minute of my day filled but it's filled doing everything I love! There aren't enough hours in a day for me and I can luckily say that I am never bored!
Aren't trophy wives supposed to just be pampered all day and sit around eating bon bons? Not this trophy wife!

This was fun, I get the same questions! I worked in the Corporate world for THIRTY years and have been retired for NINE! Loving EVERY single minute of EVERY single day!
People say "what do you do with all that time"? Errr WHAT time? Time flies right by and I, like you, STAY BUSY! Loving my life too! Have a blessed day dear Nina! HUGS!
So very lovely... so homey and clean! ;) I so wish I could work from home, or just don't work from home but rather work at home cleaning, rearranging things around and just doing the things I love instead of being at the office all day (I'm at the office now - shhh! ) Any way dear one, may you have a lovely day at home or wherever you are.... and thanks for participating in our Show Off Your Cottage Monday! See you super soon!

Love the peeks of your home. Also love your decor. Warm and soft looking.
I also love the peeks into "your life." I think a lot of us in "Pretty Blog Land," feel like our blog friends ARE friends. Even though they are in Cyber.
It's fun to know how friends, spend their time.
Now please..... Do you have a schedule, for keeping your home "up to snuff" as we say? I am still searching for ideas, for a schedule, for here.
Some times, I've had a cleaning lady. But she got a different job and we never went back to having house cleaned every 2 weeks.
Soooooooo, we are still looking for a plan. I say "we," because we both "pitch in," to do the cleaning. And we both, would love to find a schedule.
Please, yours? Perhaps I can adapt it, to my needs. :-)
Gentle hugs,
.♥.♥.♥.
I Love this post! Just proves that a woman's work is never done and the best part is we can definitely multi-task all day long! You are amazing for doing all these.
Thanks for stopping by.

How great that you were able to have your career and now stay home and tend to the nest. I'd say you had the best of both worlds! Your nest is lovely by the way!

Nina,
My Mom worked full time from 16 years of age to 67 y/o. But I always wanted to be a June Cleaver Wife too. That has not been the case. I am the major bread winner making close to over $10 a hour more than my hubby who is a mail man. I have much better health insurance than the government provides. So it is pretty much a no brainer that I continue to work which allows us to lead the life style that we do and have all of these years.
BUT 32 years of full time has taken a toll on me and I will most likely be looking at disability in the next few years.
However, I still want to be a June Cleaver wife and I pray that I will live long enough to actually get to do it!
And I would NEVER be bored. I could find a million things to do at home!!
I am so green with envy but I am so happy for you!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Gosh, I don't even know what bonbons are! ;-)
I work in a home based business too, and it just drives me crazy when uninformed people assume that I don't have a "job", because I don't physically go out the door of my house at 8 am. If only they knew... I work 10 hour days, probably longer hours than they do at their downtown offices. And then I have to take care of all the cleaning, laundry, gardening, organization, family issues, and half the cooking (and blogging ) in whatever time is left over after that. Thankfully my husband feeds the pets, does the grocery shopping and is great about helping to cook dinner.
I can't believe people think you don't have anything to do because you stay at home. It seems like you're always involved in some creative project. I don't know how you get it all done.
You sound busy to me! I think my Mom is one of the busiest people I know. : ) I am glad you are enjoying life. It is so short!
What a lovely home you have ,I've recently re-discovered the joys of homemaking again ,meaning I actually do enjoy it now!!
