Just a Few Quickies

I've gotten a little behind in my blog reading and writing. Life gets in the way sometimes. So first of all, I have spent this rainy, gloomy Sunday reading and getting up to date with all my friends out there. I can't possibly take the time to comment on all, but I want all of you to know I've read them all and I'm all caught up.

Second, I feel so bad about all the celebrity deaths this week. I'm sad about Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett. They were both ill and it's not that these were so shocking as they were a loss of reminders of my childhood. I watched the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Ed as often as I could and in my opinion, there's been no one yet to replace them successfully. Farrah Fawcett was an idol to this young Nina. I had the Farrah hairdo as a teenager and even did some amateur bathing suit poses trying to look like her. I always thought she was beautiful, until the day she died. Then there's Michael Jackson. That was a shock. He was a little crazy in later years, but I loved watching him perform. No one can deny that he was a musical master. Such a sad life, though. Now today, Billy Mays. I don't know much about him, but it seems everyone knows his name and face. And again, only 50. They say these deaths come in threes, but the list seems to be growing fast beyond that.

Third, this weather around here stinks. We have about one good summer day and then four or five cold and rainy. Summer in Western PA is too short to have this many bad days. My flowers are getting too much water and my brain is not getting enough sunshine. I try to make the best of it and get caught up on inside projects and hobbies.

This has been a relaxing, do what I want, and sit on my butt all day kind of day. And I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I needed it. Nobody is calling, nobody is stopping by, and I may just have cereal for my Bob and me for dinner. Good thing I don't have too many days like this or I could get real lazy and fat.

I hadn't even heard of the last death. Yeah, it's been some week for prominent celebrities. Here it's incredibly hot. Please send rain this way!

I did not know Billy Mays died. I popped over the a news site and read about it. Also, the doctor at the south pole that had breast cancer just died of the cancer this weekend, too.

We are hot and humid in Georgia! This has been a week of extraordinary news, that's for sure. Life is never stagnant. Rest up. Linda

I'd gladly ship you some of this hot weather! We had a perfect day. Church service this morning was awesome! Afterward, I lunched with a good friend. My step-son and his wife came for dinner and a swim with Ali. And now, she and Papaw are building a fire to light at dusk. Marshmallows are always a great way to end a perfect day!

Tomorrow I could use a rainy, jammy day!

Nina, I don't think there's any chance you will sit around getting fat, if your life and picture are any indication. Thank you for your comment on my latest birdie blog.

And I also am stunned by the spate of celebrity deaths. In 2002, my son died of exactly the same thing they thing took Michael Jackson, and he was only 40. Sudden cardiac death kills more people than is realized.

I wouldn't be surprised to find it also killed Billy Mays. Today was supposed to be rainy here in the PNW, but instead it was sunny and in the 60s. Beautiful! Not to rub it in or anything... :-)

You are a beautiful lady, and I hope that if the universe allows it, someday we will meet in person.

I read about Billy Mays a little earlier this afternoon, that one was a real shock.

There is nothing wrong with a relaxing day, rain does promote such behavior, lol.

I would send you some sun if I could, our days are starting to warm up now and the rain is pretty much gone until fall.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Judy

Yes it has been a sad week full of deaths. My heart goes out to all their families and friends.

Oh and I would love to have your rain here in CA. It's starting to get hotter and I know the big summer heat wave is just around the corner...yuck! LOL

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Also thanks for letting me know you couldn't find my "follow me" button. Some how it ended up way down at the bottom of my blog so I moved it back up. It's on the right side towards the top now.

Hugs,
Joanne

Sounds like a perfect day to me. The more I hear about Michael Jackson and how he looked I get angry about the abuse that was allowed to go on.

I didn't know about the DR. with breast cancer dying. So sad.

Happy Monday, Nina :))

I love days like that. Just catching up and being content. These deaths this week has all of us a little bit sad. It's hard to comprehend what MJ's children will go through over the next several years.

Hope the skys clear soon. It's just starting to get warm where I live. An odd year for weather.
